Fragging

A friend of mine ask me to play him in a game of Quake 111 and I've been hooked ever since. I n the game your main goal is to kill or "frag" your opponents. I know it probably sound bad, but you can hook up over the net and play against other people and that's what makes it so great. The challenge of trying to outsmart a person, plus it's great to be able to laugh when you send a friend to his demise.

normally there is three of us that connect and play, but there has been times when there are as many as six, that's when it gets interesting.

Now I'm no expert gamer by no means, but I have played quite a few games on the computer so I have done fairly well at the game. The best part of the game is when you frag some one and you know that they are getting aggravated. There has been times when we are playing with three people and my two opponents will team up just to kill me.

When we're playing I always like to try and hunt down the person that taught me how to play. If I frag him in a certain way he'll start saying that I'm cheating and later he'll end up fragging me in the same manner. He is going to have a "frag party" at his home where he is going to set up six to eight computers, by the way he's a computer geek (see Confessions of a Slacker). I told him that being that close to one another I can see some wrestling matches in his home before it's over. And I know what your thinking, are these people adults or children. Try it some time and you'll see..............

The Administration Gods Have Shined On Me......For Now

Well yesterday when I went to work the new schedule was posted. The "powers that be" have decided to leave the shifts alone and not change them up. Which is great, this will be the first time since I started full time that I will get to do a rotation with my shift. We are also going to stay on an eight hour schedule, so starting July 2 I will be working from 2:00pm until 10:00pm. Maybe now I'll be able to get some good sleep. Yesterday I was able to get around four hours of sleep and then this morning I only got two hours, good thing I'm off work tonight.

Today at the gym we did some crossfit. We did five rounds consisting of thrusters (going 10,8,6,4,2), 29 sit-ups, 25 push-ups, pre-jerks (also going 10,8,6,4,2) and then ending each set with a calf exercise. My left shoulder is a little sore. Yesterday we worked on the chest and triceps and ended with a mile run. My run wasn't too bad for a Monday, I was able to finish in eight minutes and twenty-two seconds, I know it's a little slow but we didn't run at all last week. I've also been working in a little TaeKwonDo training each day. I think I might try getting back into it, but we'll see. I don't think my wife will be too happy if I add TaeKwonDo training to my daily routine. But I can still work on it here at home for a while until I can get back into shape. My kicks right now are about waist high, not very good when they used to be above my head. Who knows, we'll just have to see where it goes. I definitely know there will be some days filled with sore muscles.........

Long Week

Well the last week has been a long and busy one, can't believe that I went a whole week without getting to post. First off last week when I came into work I found out that not only are they looking at changing our shifts to ten hour days, they are also changing the people on the shifts. They have decided to let us pick which shift we want to be on by seniority. On the all powerful seniority list I'm fourth from the bottom, so as you could guess the thought of having to leave my shift has been on my mind. Before my days off they were halfway down the list and it doesn't look as bad as I had thought it would be, so I might have a good chance of staying where I'm at, we'll see.
For the last two days I gotten to work on my shed, I now have the plywood on the roof and have it papered. I also have the eve starter so it's ready to be shingled. It's been hot so I haven't been moving very fast while working, guess I'm getting old.
I missed going to the gym yesterday, but was able to go Monday and Tuesday. Also Tuesday after going to the gym we got to go and do some grappling for about an hour, I received a pretty good bruise on the inside of my left leg that's a little sore.
Hopefully this week will not be as busy as last week. But on the plus side I only have two more weeks until I go on vacation........

The "Iceman" Almost Had A Meltdown

As some of you already know, while I was at SWAT school I received the nickname of Iceman. The guys said that I never showed any emotions and was like ice, so the name was handed down. I'm not saying that I have no emotions, I just like to keep them in check.
Last week I almost let my guard drop and show some true anger to a man, fortunately I was able to keep my anger in check and did not show the man any emotions, but believe me it wasn't easy. Here's a summary of what happened. My sergeant arrested a man for public intoxication, so as you could guess, the man was not very happy and like most people who are intoxicated he wasn't thinking very well. I was the lucky one who got to transport the happy suspect to the jail. And as you could guess, I was cussed and yelled at all the way to jail. Now I've been cussed before, been called everything from a bastard to a coward and it never bothers me, I know that when I deal with people they are not having a good day and I just let them vent. The man I was transporting was very upset, and he told me he was going to break my jaw when I took the hand cuffs off him, told me how the police are nothing but a bunch of cowards hiding behind a badge and that I must be the biggest coward of them all since I was not exchanging words with him. Like I said this kind of thing doesn't bother me, and by the way he did just as he was told at the jail when the cuffs were taken off and didn't try to break my jaw as promised.
The one thing that did catch my attention and almost got him a response was when the man told me that when he got out of jail he was going to find my wife and f**k her. For one spilt second I was ready to forget about my job and turn the man loose and see what he was made of, but the thought quickly passed and I regained control with out the man ever knowing that he had gotten to me for that one second, which would have been bad. Like I say never let someone know your true feelings, because they can be used against you.
Well as you could guess the man went on to stay in jail and I went home, so in the end everything worked out. I'll just have to keep working on controlling my emotions and make sure that the Iceman doesn't have a meltdown......

Paperwork

Yesterday at our SWAT meeting we were given medical information packets that are to be filled out and sealed and secured in the SWAT office only to be opened in case of an emergency.
The packet was twelve pages long and ask everything from your name to what kind of funeral arrangement you want. It was kinda weird filling the papers out and thinking of what kind of funeral I would want, who would I want to contact my family in case of serious injury or death, who would be contacted in case of death and would I want to be left on life support.
I hate filling out paperwork but I guess it's a good thing to address these issues before hand rather than just hope that the time never arises for those questions to be answered.

On the subject of something happening at work, yesterday I was supposed to be in court involving a person who tried to stab my partner when we went to place them in custody. I contacted the Prosecuting Attorney early yesterday and left my cell phone number in case they needed me since I had a meeting and then had to take my youngest daughter to get her hair done, which at the time I had forgotten about. I guess that the case was either continued or settled since I didn't get a call.

Hopefully none of the packets will ever be needed, but at least our team will have them if they are......

I was getting out my notebook that I took to SWAT school this morning and found the note that my daughter left me. I had forgotten about it. I changed the contrast so it would show up better.

Back To Busy

Well after getting to take a day off it hasn't taken long to get back into a busy schedule. Monday I got home from work just after 6:00am and after talking with my wife I got to sleep at about 7:00am. Then I got up at 10:00am and headed to the gym. We did a routine of cleans, bench press, pre-jerks and sit-ups and then ran over a mile on the treadmill. After the gym I went back home and took a nap, big mistake, I woke up and could hardly move I was so stiff. Eat dinner and was able to watch TV with my wife for about an hour and then started getting ready for work.
Today I got home around 6:30am and was able to get to sleep around 7:00am. Was back up at 10:00am and headed to the gym. Today we did weighted squats [later done seated leg presses, got weak], arm curls, leg extensions, worked on triceps, done hanging knees to elbows [they hurt, that's all there is to it]. Once we got done with five rounds we did, what I call, mountain climbers for 30 second intervals, I know it doesn't sound like much, but believe me, it was. After doing five round of mountain climbers we did 12 minutes on the treadmill, I didn't push my run to hard today since my knees were hurting, I think it's time to buy new shoes.
After I got done at the gym I went by and seen my wife at work for a little bit then came home.
I'm off work for the next two nights so I won't go back to sleep today. Tonight my wife, my youngest daughter and I are going out to eat since my oldest daughter is on her way to Colorado. She's only been gone one day and I miss her already, it's going to be a long week.
I've been on here long enough, better go do some work...............

Long Live the '80s.......

While on our shopping trip to Jonesboro I bought an 80's CD, Pop Goes The '80s. It has some songs that I don't have in my collection. So as you could guess I've been listening to it at work for the last three days.
The two CD set has the following songs:

Disc 2

It's hard to believe that most of these songs are 20 years old (or more), guess before long they'll be on the "oldies but goodies" station. But they were the stuff back in the day......

A Day Off

Friday night I was able to take off work. My family and I went to Jonesboro for the day and went shopping at the new mall that has been built there. My oldest daughter is leaving Monday for Colorado and needed a purse so we looked at those most of the day. She finally made her choice at the end of the day, she is like her mother when it comes to shopping. It was a good day getting to be with the family and not having to worry about getting back home to go to work. Saturday morning I got up and my wife and I spent the morning cutting out and putting up the rafters on my shed. It's now ready for the decking on the roof. After getting done working on the shed I was able to get my truck pull started and taken to the shop. After that we came home and went swimming for a little while. I was able to take a good nap that afternoon before I had to go to work, so it was a nice day off........

A Long Training Day....

Our training day on Tuesday went very well I think. On Monday night I left the house at 9:00pm to go to work. I got off my shift at 6:00am and jumped in a car and headed to Bull Shoals which was about a 1 1/2 hour drive. Once there we went to ALS Technologies, Inc.. While at ALS we were filmed doing different training exercises using different ALS Technologies products for training and demo videos. We got done around 4:30-5:00pm and then went to a team members home and had dinner. After dinner I drove home. I finally got home and in bed around 11:30pm Tuesday night. I sure slept good......

A look back....

Over the week-end I made my first purchase on E-Bay. When I was young I was an avid Dungeons & Dragons player. My friends and I would spend hours sitting around a table. I do not play the game any more, but I still have most of my books. I lost quite a few of my books when I moved out of my parents home. My mom was in such a hurry to get me out of my room that she threw out a lot of my stuff before I had a chance to come back and get it.
Last week-end my wife had gotten on E-Bay to look for a CHI flat iron, which she found. So while she was on there I looked at Dungeons & Dragons books. Well I made a bid on a set of four original books but I didn't get that one. Then I made bids on two other books, the Dungeon Masters Guide and the Fiend Folio, which I won both. I hope that in the future I can complete the set and get the first edition Players Hand Book and the Monster Manual. We'll see............

Just Routine

Yesterday at the gym we had a pretty hard workout. We did five rounds consisting of ten reps in each of the following: burpees, pre-jerks with a 65lb bar, clean and jerks with a 115lb bar and last turkish get-up with a 45lb kettlebell. Was worn out at the end.
Today it was a little lighter of a workout. We did seven rounds consisting of ten reps in each of the following: rows with a 45lb dumb bell, skull crushers with a 65lb bar, arm curls with 60lbs and then knees to elbows, which is a new one for me. You hang from a bar and then curl your body up until your knees touch your elbows, talk about a burning in the stomach. After our seven rounds we ran a mile, mine was a little slow today it took me 8 minutes 19 seconds.
I have gotten to work on my shed a little the last two days. I now have started putting up rafters, so maybe this week-end I'll be able to do some more work on it and get all the rafters up and ready to start decking the roof.
Right now I think I'm going to go lay down and rest........

Well earlier I told you of my tattoo. What I didn't tell you was that as you might have guessed, I was very intoxicated when I got it. Not that I'm trying to make an excuse. But when I got it I was going to get Chester Cheetah with the saying "it's not easy being cheesey". Looking back I'm glad I went with the cross, could you imagine the crap I would have gotten had I went with the Chester Cheetah..........

My daughter told me that I could post this. She had drawn them during school for a friend to put on a poem....

The Past

Yesterday while at the gym the song "Something To Believe In" by Poison came on the radio. Great song in my opinion. As the song was getting started my partner started in laughing. I couldn't quit understand what he was finding so funny in such a good song. Well I had forgot that during SWAT school I had taken my shirt off and low and behold he was the one that spotted my tattoo on top of my left arm. And you might have guessed by now, my tattoo is a cross with the phrase "something to believe in" around it and yes I got it from the song. I had forgotten all about it being brought out in the open during school. Of course for the remainder of the school I would always hear, "Iceman give us something to believe in". Since school was over I hadn't heard any more about it and I had thought maybe it was forgotten since I never go out with it uncovered. But I was wrong. Not only did my partner have to start bringing it up at the gym, he decided to share the story with the other people in the gym (luckily for me there was only one couple left). You would think that the story would stop there, but no, he had more. Some time back once again as my [bad] luck would have it, he responded to my mom's house to take a report from my nephew. So while talking with my nephew he noticed pictures of me on the walls and before long he had pictures of me, sporting a mullet, on his cell phone and one of those ended up on the bulletin board at the office. That story was also shared with the couple at the gym.
So as you can see the past will always come back to haunt you no matter how careful you are at making sure it is kept hidden.......
